Questions
Tavvi, in plain answers.
What it is, what it does on the street, how it keeps you safe, and what it costs.
What is Tavvi?
Tavvi is an AI travel companion app, made in the UK. It plans your trip, guides you by voice as you walk a city, finds where the locals eat, and introduces you to verified travellers nearby. It works in your browser on any phone, and an iPhone app is on its way. It's free to start.
Is Tavvi an AI tour guide?
Yes. Live mode is a voice guide in your ear. It tells you what you're walking past (the history, the food, the local stories) and stays quiet the rest of the time. You can pick a style: Wander, Learn, Eat or Reflect. Tavvi also has named walks, rides and runs with the route drawn on a map.
How is Tavvi different from ChatGPT for travel?
ChatGPT answers questions. Tavvi comes with you: it keeps your trip plan, flights and stays in one place (Trip Pro), remembers what you told it earlier (Trip Brain), guides you by voice on the street, learns your taste as you go, and connects you with verified travellers nearby. Safety features like live location sharing are built in.
How does Tavvi help you meet other travellers?
Travel Buddies is opt-in. It shows verified travellers near you for a drink, a walk or dinner. There's no swiping and no feed. You can say hello to up to eight people a day, post or join a meet-up for this evening, and keep the chat in the app until you're ready.
How does Tavvi verify travellers?
Every Travel Buddy passes a live face check before anyone can see or message them. Face data is used only to verify you and is never stored. You can add ID verification for a badge on your profile. Locals are never shown in their home country, so everyone you see is travelling too.
Is Travel Buddies safe for solo female travellers?
It's built for it. You choose who you'd like to meet, and you only see people whose filters include you as well. Your pin is blurred and distances are rounded. Exact locations are shared only when both people agree, and only for 20 minutes. Tavvi suggests busy public places to meet. You can block or report anyone at any time, and hide from Travel Buddies with one switch.
Does Tavvi recommend where to eat?
Yes. Tavvi's Picks finds where the locals eat: the place with no English menu, the street stall with a queue. It tells you what to order and how to eat it. Free accounts get three Picks a week; Tavvi Plus has unlimited Picks.
How much does Tavvi cost?
Tavvi is free to start, with no card needed. Tavvi Plus is £5.99 a month or £47.99 a year and adds Tavvi's own voice on every walk, live web search on every answer, unlimited Picks and live flight and hotel prices. The Founders Circle is £99 once for Plus for life. Safety features are free for everyone.
Which cities does Tavvi work in?
Anywhere. Tavvi plans and guides in any city, town or village, from Rome and Hanoi to a weaving village in Scotland. Your first guided walk in every new city is free in Tavvi's voice.
Is Tavvi on iPhone and Android?
Tavvi works today in the browser on any iPhone or Android phone, and you can add it to your home screen. A native iPhone app is coming.
Does Tavvi sell my data?
No. Tavvi doesn't sell your information. Your trips and conversations belong to you, your data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and you can ask for it to be deleted.
Who makes Tavvi?
Tavvi is made in the UK by Sylk Tech Ltd. It started on trips to Hanoi, Rome and São Paulo, when the founder wanted something that told the story of a place and then got out of the way.
